The new generation Saw 318 is updated! With careful material choices and new design ideas, the need for maintenance will be minimised, and durability will increase. The changes make it easy to change the bar, maintain the saw unit easily, and increase the durability to its maximum. 

What’s new with the new Saw 318 MK2?

Updated the saw bar mount:
The saw bar bracket has been given a cover and rubber seals to seal the saw bar bracket to prevent dirt and dust from entering. The bracket has also received new grease nipples at the front on the sides, which allow grease to be pushed into the construction and thus prevent moisture, dirt, and debris from entering. These improvements will collectively facilitate and reduce the need for cleaning. The new construction will also provide increased durability through increased strength.

Saw bar holder update:
The saw bar holder has received new material, Hardox 450 and a new outline. The attachment for the sword itself is also more robust and will provide increased strength and longevity. The new contour will guide the chain back in position if it’s about to drop off. 

The new placement of the “saw bar home”- sensor:
The “saw bar home” sensor has been given a new location to increase the ease of service.

New material in swivel seals:
The swivel seals’ material has been changed to increase service life and simplify assembly.

New material in tension pistons:
The new tension pistons are made of case-hardening steel to improve durability and increase service life.

True-Cut 218/318

Suits Log Max heads: 3000T, 4000T och 6000V

The True-Cut series features two different saw units: the 218 and the 318

What makes True-Cut our smartest saw is that it has a built-in saw valve that can measure the saw motor speed and adjust the guide bar feed speed accordingly. This means that True-Cut can maintain a constant chain speed of 40 m/s throughout the cutting cycle regardless of the tree. It uses the valve to monitor the cutting cycle, and if the saw motor speed changes, it adjusts the guide bar feed speed to match, thereby ensuring smooth saw operation with minimal interruptions.

Chain tensioning is manual on the 218 and automatic on the 318.
They both have 19 cc motors.

The result is an extremely fast saw, up to 35% faster than other saw units!

Another advantage of the 218/318 saw units is that the cutting control system has a high-resolution sensor. This means that the saw unit can receive more pulses about the guide bar’s position throughout the cutting cycle, enabling it to extend the guide bar only as much as necessary, thereby optimising cutting performance. This also ensures good colour marking precision as it is easier to target the paint correctly.

A True-Cut saw also provides a safer work environment as it significantly minimises the risk of chain shot. Because the valve regulates the saw motor speed, it responds immediately to changes in speed and adjusts the motor speed. This means that the saw motor almost never runs too fast, which further reduces the risk of the chain breaking and thereby also the risk of chain shot.

True-Cut is optimised at the factory and does not require any additional settings in the machine’s computer.

Saw unit for Log Max 2000T

Our smallest saw unit, EasyCut, only suits Log Max 2000T.  It is a small saw unit with manual chain tensioning. EasyCut is light, has few components and is specially designed to be mounted on our smallest and lightest head. It has a 10 cc saw motor and the guide bar has a maximum cutting diameter of 41 cm.

• True-Cut 218
  This saw unit has manual chain tensioning and is fitted with a 19 cc motor. Constant cutting speed of 40 m/s. 0.404″ chain.
• True-Cut 318
  This saw unit has automatic chain tensioning and is fitted with a 19 cc motor. Constant cutting speed of 40 m/s. 0.404″ chain.

 

Saw units for the 3000T, 4000T och 6000V

• 218 saw unit
  This saw unit has manual chain tensioning and is fitted with a 19 cc motor. 0.404″ chain.
• 318 saw unit
  This saw unit has automatic chain tensioning and is fitted with a 19 cc motor. Also available with a 30 cc motor for the 4000T and the 6000V. 0.404″ chain.

 

Saw units for the 5000D, 7000C, 7000Twin och E6

• 98XL saw unit
  This saw unit has manual chain tensioning and is fitted with a 19 cc motor. 0.404″ chain.
• SuperCut 100
  This is the only saw unit that is not our own. It comes from Hultdins and has automatic chain tensioning. You can choose a 19 cc or a 30 cc motor. 0.404″ chain.

 

Saw units for the 7000XT Top Saw 2022

• 611 saw unit
  One of our largest saw units. It has manual chain tensioning and is fitted with a 60 cc motor.  The saw has a ¾” chain.
• 318 saw unit as top saw
  This saw unit has automatic chain tensioning and is fitted with a 30 cc motor. 0.404″ chain.

 

Saw units for the 7000XT, 1000XT och 12000XT

• 518 saw unit
  This saw unit has automatic chain tensioning and suits larger heads. It is fitted with a 30 cc motor and a 0.404″ chain. 
• 411XL saw unit
  One of our largest saw units. It has manual chain tensioning and is fitted with a 60 cc motor.  The saw has a ¾” chain.
• 98XL saw unit as top saw
  The top saw on our older heads is always a 98XL saw unit. It has manual chain tensioning and is fitted with a 19 cc motor. The guide bar holder is suitable for guide bars with a 15 mm groove. 0.404″ chain.
